Matthew. Dickson was first elected in 2018.
Town Service
Matt has served as a member of the Newton Planning Board and Board of Education liaison. Currently serving on the Economic Development Advisory Commission.
Professional Service
Previously, Matt worked for a hazardous materials response cleanup company and was in charge of a cleanup crew for large scale incident on Delaware River. He obtained EMT certification and began working in paid EMS. Currently, Matt has obtained both NJ and National paramedic certification and is performing the duties of a paramedic. Matt works full time for Atlantic Health and is part time at Saint Clare’s. Currently a board member of PANJEMS and chair of the legislation committee.
Volunteer Service and Organization
During his youth, Matt was a member of a youth group that participated in various mission trips. He continued his efforts of helping others when he was a member of Rockaway Township Fire and EMS.
Since moving to Newton, Matt has spent time volunteering as a mite coach for the Newton Roller Hockey league. He has also participated in the Watch D.O.G.S. Program at the elementary school.
Educational Background
After graduating from Morris Knolls H.S., Matt attended LaSalle University in Philadelphia, Pa., studying Criminal Justice and Communications. Most recently he attended Ocean County Community College to obtain his paramedic certification. Matt is currently completing degree studies at TESU in Business Administration.
Family Profile
Matthew is a native of New Jersey, growing up in Rockaway Township. He moved to Newton in 2009, where he lives now with his wife, Grace, her daughter, and their two boys.
